Workshop 1 – Day 4

Workshop Day 4 31st Jan- Day four of the workshop. Its Sunday- the day to relax but well we have more important things to take care. Yes, to bring a Social Change! Projector is adjusted, laptop connected, DVD player all set up, sound checked, students seated, attendance taken……….and the workshop begins.

The day takes off with Patrick teaching how to make a proposal for the film. He pointed out some of the mistakes that existed in students’ proposals and explained correct way of going about it. Through more of the discussions and personal experiences being shared, we jotted down more themes Patrick then gave all groups some time and asked them to come up with the idea for their film.

The later half of the day was devoted to the concept building. For this purpose everyone was taken to the pool side, where they sat in groups with nice breezy air around them and Patrick, Grace, Moiz, Mr. Mushtaq and myself helping them around with their ideas. It was a good sight- some people sitting around SM listening him, few with Patrick, with their hands moving in air trying to make a point, few trying their best to convince Grace with their ideas while the others bearing me (I hope I was able to help) while Sehreen clicking at everyone ‘click’, ‘click’,’ click’! Though there was work in progress but in light and cool environment. Films were being shaped taking swings, films were being developed licking lollipops! Perfect combination of constructive and fun day.

Each team was asked to write a proposal and synopsis of the film and come up with the working title. Each team was provided a huge sheet in which they had to fill in with all the details Patrick had asked for. The teams took their corners and started scribbling down their points on that sheet. Once they were done the filled sheets were handed over to Grace.

At last the day ended with the screening of a documentary.
